Private Showing of "First Saturday in May" to Benefit Equine Research

A private showing of "The First Saturday in May," the award-winning documentary from the Hennegan Brothers that profiles the connections of six Thoroughbreds, including Barbaro, on the road to the 2006 Kentucky Derby, will be held at the historic Kentucky Theatre in Lexington on Tuesday, October 14.

The screening will be followed by cocktails and dinner at nearby Portofino restaurant.

Proceeds will benefit Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, the nation's leading source of private funding for scientific research specifically to benefit horses.

Appearing at the event will be the film's producer, John Hennegan, noted equine surgeon Dr. Larry Bramlage of Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, and several of the film's stars, including trainer Dale Romans.

Tickets are $150 per person, which includes the movie and dinner. Seating is limited to 200 people.

"The First Saturday in May" debuted at Truly Indie theaters in approximately 20 cities around the country in April. The Hennegan Brothers donated 25 percent of Truly Indie box office receipts to Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation.
